The scout agreement

Between Aurelius × Radix, a sole trader, and you, a scout · version 2026-11-04

This is the whole of what we agree. You accept it by ticking the box on the application before you send it.

  1. Who we areAurelius × Radix (me), who builds websites for local businesses, and you, who finds the businesses. You work for yourself, as a contractor: you choose when and where you scout, and I pay for results.
  2. What you doYou spot a business with no website, or a weak one, and fill in the spot page on your phone: its name as it appears on the sign, where it is, why it caught your eye, and photos of what anyone can see from the street. Your scout code goes in the last field. The code is a word I give you, and it stands in for your name in my records.
  3. What stays with meEvery conversation with the business, my name, prices and promises. You pass the place to me, and I decide whether and when to approach it.
  4. Business details onlyA spot holds the business and leaves the people out: names, numbers and faces of owners, staff and customers stay off the spot page.
  5. The places stay between usI keep your spots on my own server. You keep the places you have sent me to yourself.
  6. Your share10% of the first payment a place you spotted makes to me (the NZ$500 website, or a brand package), and 20% of everything it pays me in the three months after that day: care plans, hours, brand work.

A café you spotted takes its site for NZ$500 and the Tend care plan at NZ$60 a month. You get NZ$50 for the site and NZ$12 for each of the three months after: NZ$86 in all.

  7. Which spot countsThe first spot of a place decides its scout. A spot counts for six months: when the place first pays me within six months of the day you spotted it, the share is yours.
  8. When and how you are paidWithin 7 days of the business's payment reaching me, by PayPal, Monero or cash, whichever you chose. Ask me any time what you have earned and what is due.
  9. Paid for resultsYour share comes from what a place you spotted pays me. A spot earns once its place pays.
  10. TaxYour share is income, and you report it yourself. I keep a record of every payment to you and send it to you when you ask. I am checking with an accountant how scout pay is taxed; if this clause changes, I tell you before it applies to anything you earn.
  11. Your detailsYour name and how to reach you are kept in my contact list, used to pay you and to reach you, and deleted when you ask, once anything owed to you is paid. My records about your spots carry your scout code.
  12. StoppingEither of us can stop at any time with a message. A share you have already earned is paid as above, and the spots you sent before stopping keep their six months.
  13. LawNew Zealand law applies. If we disagree, we talk first.
